I always appreciate book recommendations so I figured there should be a thread for everyone to post.
A series I enjoyed was the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. It's an awesome blend of historical fiction and fantasy set in the time of Napoleon Bonaparte with dragons and *. First book is called His Majesty's Dragon

I recommend the same book to everyone, just because it happens to be my favorite. The Redemption of Althalus by David Eddings. It is a little on the long side at 700 pages, but by the end you really wish it would continue, even though he does a marvelous job cleaning up all plot points and tying up all loose ends. It is about a thief who goes to the Edge of the World to steal a book and ends up meeting a cat that teaches him to read. I promise it is more interesting than you might think. If you enjoy wit, Althalus' character will be your new favorite character.

I'm currently about 3/4 of the way through Dracula (the original by Bram Stoker) - its a surprisingly easy read and I've been enjoying it. The story line is not as predictable as I would have guess either.
So if you haven't read it yet, I would recommend it.

A Song of Fire and Ice series
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks ( really like the way the individual narrations gave it a feeling of authenticity)

Alright, I've been looking for a new book to read while season 2 of GoT is playing, and I'm gonna try World War Z on your recommendation, lover. Better not disappoint.

World War Z is a good one. I'm interested to see how the movie turns out.
