NO SPOILERS FOR PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD!!!
Ok so overall decent move, I saw it in 2D as I wear glasses to see making 3D a pain in the *.
But then I can say go see it it is worth it if you like the book.
I will make another thread where we can discuss the movie with spoilers.

I've only heard one person say anything about the movie, and that was that it was bad. Now, granted he was complaining that they added a TON of stuff that wasn't in the original book and ranted about it being one book and being split into 3 movies... so I don't know how much of it was nerd-rage or legit argument. I also don't know if I'd trust him on opinions, he's a bit of a moron.
So, I guess I must ask. Regarding the amount of added "fluff" (so to speak), was it distracting and a critical flaw of the movie?

well being a huge fan of LOTR it was a bit upsetting that they added the extra stuff but at the same time it added a twist to the LOTR franchise.
They didn't make them like the originals but they did do a decent job at the movie.
I mean there were the obvious shots that you know were done for 3d but it was still a movie to check out.
I mean I am going to go see it again. I might try the 3d if the theater allows me to get a refund if 3d dosn't work out for me.

Purists have to shut it.
They don't call it an adaptation for nothing.

UH OH?!?! SPOILERS!!?!?!?!?!ONE!11?!!
If you haven't read the book by now, you probably never will. In that case I would say any spoilers are less spoiling and more deserved.
That being said, I haven't seen the film yet, but I hear it ends right when **** ***** *** ****** and that ***** doesn't make an appearance quite yet. All in all, I've heard very positive reviews. The nice thing about them separating it into three films is that it seems they're intent on actually encompassing everything from the book in the movies. Unfortunately they made this decision AFTER they made all three LOTRs

I'd rather watch a book adaptation that's good than one that made sure they included every little detail for the purist's sake. The LOTR movies were awesome, and I don't think dragging them out would've benefited them.

I just feel like they were fairly dragged out as it was, why not add the rest? I was a fan of the movies, but I take them for what they are. You can never expect a film adaptation of a book or comic to be anything on par with the resource material.

Yes you can.
You just can't expect it to be the same, and you can never expect a reader to admit a movie does the book justice.
The dark knight, I dare say, exceeded the resource material.

The movies actually have pieces from Tolkien's other stories so that's why I can find it justifiable to turn it into three movies.
