Oh and working in tech support really changes your attitude twards other people you encounter who work similar jobs. You understand the * they have to work with day after day and that being nice usually makes them want to help you more than just being a * from the start and * them off.

Or it makes them think that you are just nuts and trying to be up everyone's * because your afraid of pushing someones buttons.

Then it gets really funny when you call someone out in front of everyone else and they all go jaw dropped wide eyed.

Makes you wonder just how ignorant people are.

Also it depends for what you're providing support. It can either be something mundane and very end-customer oriented ,and then you're more likely to get complete ignorants , or it can be something more enterprise-oriented ,like the way I'm a tape backup engineer now, I talk only to admins or the guys responsible for backup hardware in the various companies we provide the hardware. They tend to be more knowledgeable but you do encounter some complete idiots

If your working on a clients PC there is TONS.

You have no idea the kind of * that you can come across while working on a personal computer or even some times the CEO of a company.

I used to work for this big romanian oil company. We provided support for all the employees. Man those guys working in the gas stations had so much * on their computers....and some real nasty stuff too ))

Being that when I was doing this we had to sign a NDA over every computer we worked on, NO I did not feel like going to jail or losing my job at the time.

How about finding the weird stuff?

That was what I was mostly interested in anyway
