ah some Vehemence. That's pretty sweet, I don't think I've given these guys much of a listen. This is their latest album right? Most of these guys went on to form Abigail Williams, which I like but they're definitely more black and melodic. This is more death, i've never heard this song but I really like the last parts during the solo and all the way to the end afterwards.
This is a prog band from Regina, AB. Into Eternity, they're signed and two friends of mine from Edmonton just joined them. Their new vocalist is a girl with a great gritty voice, but I haven't heard the band with her yet, so I'm reserving judgement. Their new drummer is as sick as all of their past drummers. These guys have been around for a while, and they go through several different styles. It's pretty sweet.

Being a Music Major, my tastes (or at least the music the force upon me) varies greatly. I'm playing guitar in a local high school's musical, Seussical, this week ...so I've been listening to that so I don't suck.
I've also got a jury later this month where I have to play a solo in front of the Brass faculty, and I've been trying to find a decent recording of that. It's got such odd meter switches, random modulations, strange groupings, etc. It sounds almost natural once you get it down, but it's certainly a long stretch from the Mozart Concerto I did this fall. Btw, the audio in this recording is pretty bad. Mix of being over mic-ed and low quality. Plus, it just sounds better on a Euphonium. Trombones suck!

Otherwise, I pretty much just listen to J-rock, early-classic rock, and guitar instrumental music. Paul Gilbert is all I'm going to say on that one. But J-rock wise, I pretty much stick to Nightmare, X-Japan, Versailles, Luna Sea, and occasionally Malice Mizer. And if you want to consider Loudness J-rock, then them too. And EZO.

Bryan Newbury just joined up to play drums. He is of Death Toll Rising (Edmonton) acclaim, and Amanda Kiernan started recently on vocals (The Order of Chaos, also from E-Town). I have also met Jim Austin, who used to play drums for them and coincidentally played drums on the Awkward Silence "Little Ineffectual Nothing" album (which is my friend J's old band. I showed you their 'one mutilation under god' track earlier).Mr. T wrote:AYO which friends? My friend is a huge fanboii and would love to suck their cawkz.WalkingAbomination wrote:ah some Vehemence. Haha V, I learned about Malice Mizer and J-Rock from Kiri. I remember she had a Gackt sig for a long time and I thought she was smoking hot, til Kiri corrected me on her gender.

Hahaha. Yeah. There have been a lot of stories like that. And people thought 80's hair bands in the US were androgynous!
For example, this picture, Enjoy! Asian-Audrey Hepburn!
Who is she? [s]He is the drummer for Dir en grey, who are now a world-known metal band. Obviously they dropped the VK look LONG time ago, but I never get tired of telling this story.
