...all joking aside, it's about the only explanation that make sense. Someone is intentionally playing up these issues to some gain, which we probably won't know about until it's too late. I know it sounds like a conspiracy theory, but the rampant "If you're not with us, you're against us" mentality on BOTH/ALL sides is staggering. My boss, who is a pretty staunch conservative despite claiming he's a moderate, has repeatedly equated the world of today to that of the 60's/70's. I totally see it too, though it feels like it's everyone fighting about every single issue and not just a few choice ones.
